I was born on the 9th of May, 1973 in Edmonton Alberta but before I turned 1 my mother had me living in BC where I have lived until now.
I began to work out and focus on my fitness in high school. I did lots of things, cardio, weight training, aerobics. I joined the running room after I had my second child and entered the Abbotsford Police 10k challenge run and came 4th in my class. I liked it all but I was never totally fulfilled. I began working out at great west fitness in 2005 and focused as much on nutrition as well as fitness. Before long I contacted some local and outstanding trainers, Darren and Lara Toma to help train to enter a local figure competition, the Sandra Wickam Fall Classic in November 2006. I worked very hard and followed my trainers advise explicitly. It came time for the competition and I thought I looked great but was overjoyed when I won 1st in my class. Most importantly though I found something I really wanted to do, that is to become a personal trainer and Specilalized sports nutritionist.
So I currently train motivated people that have a desire to be fit and eat healthy. I am working on my ISSA certification and also training for the 2007 BC Bodybuilding Fitness & Figure championships in July.
The Gym has always been a passion of mine since the age of 18, I loved how it felt after working out and the way I looked physically and it was obvious to other people that I really enjoyed taking care of my body. However, I was losing interest in working out just to stay in shape. When I starting training at Great west 2 years ago I’d seen some people who competed. Seeing the amazing hard work and transformation that these people had gone through really had me thinking hard about my perspectives in the gym. After seeing my friend Maria Sharpe who won her class in a Kelowna show in 2006, and a whole lot of encouragement form people and my husband, it really inspired me the want to push myself to the next level. I though it over for a long time to see if I would have that kind of dedication and diligence to compete. It was finally June of this year that I decided to get on it! It was definitely well worth all the hard work and effort. I’m so grateful to my coaches and trainers, I have learned so much from them, and I am truly blessed! I look forward to competing in the BC’s
